TV executive Robert J. Wussler dies at 73

Robert J. Wussler, a CBS television executive who went on to work for Ted Turner at CNN and TBS, has died. He was 73.

Wussler died June 5 at his home in Westport, Conn., after a long illness.

During his 21 years at CBS, Wussler moved from working in the mailroom to become the executive producer of CBS News, where he oversaw special projects, including man’s landing on the moon.

In 1978, Wussler formed his own production company, Pyramid Enterprises, which created syndicated programming for the international marketplace, specializing in Japan, France and the former Soviet Union.

Wussler joined Turner in 1980, then in 1989 became president and chief executive of Comsat Video Enterprises.
