I’ve always been dubious about those flexible ballet flats that roll up into an hors d’ouevre-size nugget and fit snuggly inside your purse or in the back pocket of the seat of your car. They seem like a good thing to have on hand in case your high heels start to make you cry (or bleed) and the roll-up factor is great to keep in a travel bag or purse. But every pair I’ve ever tried basically feels like paper wrapped around my foot that’s gathered with some elastic and the running shoe with a skirt or dress option is off the table.

The Ballasox flat from Corso Como works as the shoe that scrunches up and slides into its own little ultra suede sack and looks like an actual ballet flat, not some cardboard with pleather secured to the edges. Also, the inside is lined with a soft nylon sock that gives the foot kind of a squishy massage – a good thing when coming down off of treacherous heels.
