File this one under unexpected collaborations: Fluxus, the casual L.A.-based contemporary brand formerly designed by ‘Project Runway’ winner Jeffrey Sebelia, has teamed up with local electro-synth pop band De Signer for a three-piece capsule collection.
De Signer dreamed up three loose-fitting, unisex styles for Fluxus — which the brand dubbed the Textures Project — using soft, tee-style fabrics (and keeping hems raw).
Emphasis was placed on the details of construction, not adornment.
There’s the “Coso” cardigan ($109), an oversized cozy knit sweater with a slight bat-wing sleeve and assymetrical hem; the “010” tank ($69), a super-thin, sheer gray jersey tank; and the drapey black “Lutke” T-shirt ($79), which features two unusually positioned seams — one across the chest and another running diagonally across the back.
The mission was to ‘design basic unisex silhouettes that flatter all body types and allow one to feel comfortable and confident,’ said Fluxus founder and Chief Executive Officer Martin Paquette.
The cool collab began with a few chance run-ins between De Signer members and Fluxus staffers at various parties around town — which quickly morphed into conversations about a partnership for events and performances and, eventually, a collection.
The limited edition line is sold online at www.fluxusbrand.com and at Fluxus’ retail store at 202 N. Larchmont Blvd. in Los Angeles.
