It looks like Swedish fast-fashion retailer H&M isn’t wasting any time trying to leverage the buzz -- and the look -- of the upcoming David Fincher version of ‘The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.’ The retailer announced Wednesday that a 30-piece women’s collection inspired by the title character will hit stores one week before the film hits theaters.
H&M has tapped the movie’s costume designer, Trish Summerville, to create a collection that hews to the dark, gritty, urban-industrial aesthetic of the movie’s anti-heroine Lisbeth Sander. The result is an assortment of slashed up skinny jeans, leather biker jackets, slouchy zip-front hoodies and T-shirts with scrolled lettering and hand-painted flags.
Accessories (think tribal earrings, beat-up backpacks and knit snoods) and footwear (high-top sneakers, platform wedges and preworn leather boots) round out the collection, which will range in price from $3.95 to $199.
The collection is slated to make its global debut at Paris’ trendy Colette boutique Nov. 28, expanding to 175 H&M stores worldwide on Dec. 14. The movie opens in the U.S. seven days later, on Dec. 21.
