A televised mini-concert celebrating the 2012 Grammy nominations aired on CBS last night, providing yet another red-carpet fashion opportunity. Among the well-represented labels was Giorgio Armani, which provided the custom-made black jersey and Swarovski crystal encrusted body suit in which Lady Gaga performed, and host LL Cool J’s classic-looking black, two-button notch-lapel suit. A Cowardly Lion costume worn by Bert Lahr in ‘The Wizard of Oz’ is the latest piece of Hollywood history slated to hit the auction block Dec. 15-16 in Beverly Hills. Since the outfit is made from a real lion hide, let’s all breathe a sigh of relief that the auction isn’t being held in neighboring West Hollywood — which just voted to ban the sale of fur. We told you about it earlier this year, and now the time is almost upon us. Ten gowns from Rodarte’s Spring/Summer 2012 couture collection will make their North American debut at LACMA on December 17th, 2011. A promised gift to the museum’s Costume and Textiles Department by designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy, the gowns were inspired by the frescoes of Italian Renaissance artist, Fra Angelico, and made their global debut in Florence, Italy, in June. We’re told that LACMA will be displaying the gowns in the museum’s Italian Renaissance gallery, surrounded by classic Renaissance artworks. [Photos: Rodarte couture gowns]
