‘Boardwalk Empire,’ the 1920s gangster drama set in Atlantic City, N.J., was dominating the Screen Actors’ Guild Awards on Sunday evening. Moments after star Steve Buscemi won lead male actor for the new HBO drama, the cast won for outstanding performance by an emsemble in a TV drama series.

It’s SAG’s biggest prize for a drama series — effectively crowning them the best on TV. The ensemble was competing in this category against such veterans as ‘The Closer,’ ‘Dexter,’ ‘Mad Men’ and ‘The Good Wife.’

The honors wrap up a winning awards season for the freshman series: Buscemi won the Golden Globe two weeks ago, and Martin Scorsese won the Directors Guild of America Award on Saturday evening for directing an episode of the series. He is also executive producer for period drama.

The awards — which dole out honors in both TV and film — are being held at the Shrine Exhibition Hall and telecast live simultaneously on TNT and TBS. A win in the feature film categories is especially coveted: It can be a precurser to Oscar gold. We’ll carry all the breaking news and headlines here on Awards Tracker.
