Bad news if you’ve fled to pistachios to avoid a burgeoning FDA recall of salmonella-contaminated peanuts: FDA is announcing a recall of pistachios by Kroger’s supermarkets -- which operate in 31 states under 17 names, including Ralphs, Fry’s, Smith’s and Dillons. Affected are Kroger’s Private Selection shelled pistachio nuts; the agency says they may be contaminated by salmonella.

The pistachios are sold in 10-ounce cans, and those feared contaminated with salmonella bear the sell-by dates of Dec. 13, 2009, and Dec. 14, 2009. No illnesses have been linked to the recall, FDA says.
