Mark Cuban says Dodgers could be such a mess they take 20 years to fix, not that he might not be interested

I know what you’re thinking: Mark Cuban, come save us! Lift us from this ownership quagmire, bring us your deep pockets, your newly minted championship timber.

Alas, there is one problem with this dreamy little scenario. If/when the Dodgers go up for sale, Frank McCourt may have made such a convoluted mess of things as to scare off the Cubans of the world.

Cuban, who lost out in pursuits of the Cubs and Rangers, told TMZ the Dodgers may not be an attractive business deal.

‘I have an interest in Major League Baseball for the right deal,’ Cuban said. The Dodgers are ‘just such a mess. I can’t imagine it’s not going to be such a mess that it’s not going to be hard to turnaround.

‘You want to buy cheap and turn it into something worth a whole lot more. It’s just that it’s so screwed up, that the pieces are so messed up, that it takes 20 years to fix.

‘There are literally franchises out there that are in such disarray and such a mess, that no one can fix ’em.’

Cuban said he was concerned with all the pieces that McCourt has broken into separate corporations.

He did admit to Harvey Levin that the Mavericks were a mess when he purchased them back in 2000. Levin said Cuban could be a hero if he bought the Dodgers and turned them around.

‘The opportunity is not lost on me,’ Cuban said. ‘We’ll see what happens.’
