Earthquake: 3.0 quake strikes near Avalon

A shallow magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Saturday evening 34 miles from Avalon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 6:06 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 0 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was 36 miles from Camp Pendleton South, 37 miles from San Clemente, 40 miles from Oceanside and 48 miles from San Diego.
In the last 10 days, there have been no earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
