Holiday etiquette for pet care providers

With the holidays approaching more rapidly than we’re entirely comfortable with, etiquette questions are bound to arise. Should you purchase a gift for your boss? How much should you tip the mailman?

Lucky for us, most of these conundrums don’t fall under Unleashed’s jurisdiction. Lucky for you, Newsday has some good advice for those wondering about holiday tips for pet care workers.

Their guidelines? For starters, an appropriate tip for a dog walker is equivalent to about two weeks’ worth of walking -- or a gift helpful to their trade, like a warm, comfy jacket.

A groomer -- if the same one regularly trims your dog -- might receive a tip or gift equal to the cost of one grooming visit. And you know the old saying: ‘Respect the one who wields the scissors.’ (Okay, so maybe that’s not an old saying. But it could be.)
