‘Smart, sexy, sassy and fearless’ chocolate lovers -- the maker of Mars bars says it has a new product just for you.
Mars Snackfood U.S. recently introduced Fling, its first new brand in 20 years. The chocolate bars feature a truffle filling on top of a layer of crisp meringue, covered in shimmery chocolate (the shimmer is an edible mineral).
At just 80 calories per bar and packaged in a hot-pink wrapper, the treats are geared toward women (although they were a huge hit with the men in this newsroom).
“Mars did some research and found that no product existed that provided a solution for women who wanted to be indulgent yet also permissive when eating chocolate,” the company said. “Fling Chocolate provided the answer, with a ‘naughty but not that naughty’ treat that satisfied chocolate desires.”
Fling launched in Los Angeles and is currently available exclusively in California. Fling bars come in three flavors -- milk chocolate, dark chocolate and hazelnut -- and are sold in packs of two bars (79 cents) and in cartons of 10 individually wrapped bars ($3.39).
