Atty. Gen. Jerry Brown sues credit repair company executives

California Atty. Gen. Jerry Brown today sued two top officials at a Los Angeles-based credit repair firm, accusing them of ignoring ‘repeated warnings’ to register with his office and post a $100,000 bond.

Todd Swick and Michael Sardo are the owners of Executive Financial Credit Services, which, according to Brown, offers to help repair customers’ credit by challenging negative or inaccurate items on credit reports issued by the three credit bureaus: Experian, TransUnion and Equifax.

The lawsuit was filed in San Diego Superior Court.

A 1984 California law requires such companies to register with the attorney general and post a bond with the secretary of State’s office.

‘Today, attorneys from my office are filing suit, sending a clear signal to credit repair firms operating in California that they must register ... and follow the law,’ Brown said in a statement.

Neither Swick nor Sardo responded to requests for comment.
