Grinch alert: Two men in Atlanta were apprehended by police Sunday at the headquarters of a charity as they were allegedly trying to pilfer Christmas toys for poor children.

The pair, Navada Jackson, 32, and Desmond Sigers, 28, are in jail Monday, charged with burglary, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Jackson is also charged with lying to police and illegal gang activity.

According to the paper, police responded Sunday morning after a staffer at the charity Hosea Feed the Hungry called to report strange noises inside the building.

Police arrived to find that a hole had been cut in the door of the group’s headquarters. They discovered Jackson ‘trying to shove a bag full of toys out of the building where more toy-filled sacks were already scattered and waiting,’ the Journal-Constitution reported.

Sigers was found hiding between some crates.

This, however, wasn’t Atlanta’s boldest Christmas theft in recent years. In 2007, thieves got away after stealing more than $50,000 in toys and and other items from a holiday gift drive. They were boosted from a storage area that was downstairs from Atlanta Police Dept. offices.
