Newly appointed Lt. Gov. Abel Maldonado has won the right to seek a full four-year term after besting Sen. Sam Aanestad (R-Grass Valley) in the Republican primary.
Maldonado was appointed lieutenant governor by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and has held the post since April.
