Gov. Jerry Brown dismissed from jury duty

Gov. Jerry Brown was ready to serve, but alas he was not called.

Brown was called for jury duty in Alameda County, but his jury group was not chosen, according to his spokesman Gil Duran. Brown had said, via Twitter, that he was ready, willing and able to serve if needed -– and there’s historical reason to believe him.

While he was governor in 1981, Brown actually served on a jury that acquitted a man on charges that he had harassed his brother-in-law. That jury elected Brown foreman for the two-day trial.

Instead, Brown will turn his attention back to the dozens of bills on his desk while lawmakers enjoy the remaining two weeks of their legislative recess.
