Could ‘America’s Best Dance Crew’ be this summer’s cable sleeper for adults aged 18-34?
The ratings are in for the Season 2 premiere of ‘ABDC’ and the prospects look good for the break-out street dancing series. The reality dance competition, featuring troops of urban dance teams from around the country, averaged more than 2.3 million viewers. The series came in seventh among 18-to-34-year-olds for the week across all ad-supported cable, while MTV’s ‘Tila Tequila’ squeezed right behind in eighth place.
Also of note is the show’s strength amid the Thursday prime-time (8:00-11:00 p.m.) competition. ‘America’s Best Dance Crew’ ranked No. 1 among ages 12-34 across all of cable, besting ‘South Park.’
Not bad for a series produced -- with a big helping hand from’American Idol’s’ Randy Jackson -- by Howard and Karen Schwartz, founders of the USA and World Hip Hop Championships.
