Touchdown: ‘Friday Night Lights’ renewed for two more seasons

NBC and DirectTV have worked out another deal to keep ‘Friday Night Lights’ on the air for two more seasons, according to sources close to the show.

The deal calls for the production of 26 episodes to air over the next two seasons in 13-episodes installments, sources close to the show said.

Although some of the most beloved characters, such as Lyla (Minka Kelley) and Tyra (Adrianne Palicki) have graduated, producers expect them to return for a few episodes to wrap up their stories the way Jason Street (Scott Porter) did this past season. Of course, Coach Taylor (Kyle Chandler pictured) will be back--even if he isn’t coaching the Dillon Panthers.

The seasons will air first on DirecTV’s 101 Channel and then on NBC, the same way it worked this year.
