NBC to air NAACP Image Awards live in February

NBC, which has come under fire in the last few years for what some advocates felt was a lack of progress in increasing diversity in prime time, will air the 43rd NAACP Image Awards on Feb. 17. The ceremony is moving to NBC after being broadcast for several years on Fox.
NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt said in a statement: ‘NBC is honored to fully partner with the NAACP in a greater effort to celebrate the many deserving diverse artists who have entertained and influenced us through the years.’
Nominations for the ceremony will be announced Thursday and will include achievements in film, television, music and literature. Among the expected nominess will be ‘The Help,’ the film about a white woman who wants to write about black maids in Jackson, Miss., during the 1960s civil rights era.
