No, Tiger Woods is not ready to play yet, and said today in a conference call about his Chevron World Challenge in December that he still can’t hit golf balls yet. He also said it probably will take two years for his surgically repaired ACL to heal completely. Woods, who always donates his winnings at the tournament he hosts in Thousand Oaks to his foundation, isn’t sure how his share of the purse will be made up. By the other players in the field of 16?

‘It’s up to the players. We’re just very thankful that they are even coming and playing and participating in our event and supporting our cause. And if they care to do anything beyond that, it’s just a bonus.’

Vijay Singh and Camilo Villegas are in the field for the $5.75-million tournament ($1.35 million to the winner, $170,000 for last place). Seven U.S. Ryder Cup players will be there -- including Boo Weekley.

If Woods won’t be able to hit golf balls until January, when would you expect to see him come back? Torrey Pines the first week of February, maybe Bay Hill a month later, or Doral? You don’t think it’s going to be the Masters, do you?
