Serious soccer fans who see nothing funny about the game might revise their opinion after watching former Monty Python star John Cleese explain the rules of the game.

The folks at GolTV will air a documentary at 5 p.m. PST on Wednesday that sees Cleese present his unique take on the world’s most popular sport in a series of sketches.

The show was originally broadcast a couple of years ago but was updated somewhat after this summer’s Euro 2008 tournament in Austria and Switzerland.

Also appearing in the documentary, entitled “The Art of Football,” are such world-renowned soccer figures as Pele, Franz Beckenbauer, Michel Platini and Thierry Henry.
