Lakers start Powell

HOUSTON -- With Lamar Odom being suspened for one game without pay and not being able to play tonight against the Houston Rockets, Lakers Coach Phil Jackson started Josh Powell at power forward.

It was Powell’s first start of the season. He had become one of their key reserves.

Powell entered the game averaging 4.1 points and 2.7 rebounds.

Odom was suspended Tuesday by the NBA for leaving the immediate vicinty of the bench during an altercation.
