PHOENIX -- Free agent left-hander Will Ohman said he would be ready for opening day, but Manager Joe Torre wasn’t so sure.

Of Ohman’s command when he pitched to minor leaguers in front of the Dodgers’ brain trust, Torre said, ‘You can see he hasn’t been pitched in games.’

In other news, Torre said Delwyn Young (elbow) would probably start the season on the disabled list and that Mark Loretta (groin) would return to game action on Wednesday or Thursday. Chad Billingsley reported feeling fine in a simulated game and remains on track to be ready for the start of the season.

Casey Blake returned to camp, allowing Torre to field his opening-day lineup for the first time this spring.

Jason Schmidt is starting today against the San Diego Padres in place of Eric Stults. He tossed a perfect first inning, striking out Jody Gerut and Brian Giles.

Manny Ramirez doubled in the first inning to improve his average to .563, but Andre Ethier failed to drive him in.

The Dodgers’ lineup:
Rafael Furcal SS
Orlando Hudson 2B
Manny Ramirez LF
Andre Ethier RF
Russell Martin C
James Loney 1B
Matt Kemp CF
Casey Blake 3B
Jason Schmidt RHP
