Right wing Teemu Selanne will return to the Ducks next season, the club confirmed, ending speculation about whether he might retire.
Selanne, who will be 39 next week, is under contract with a salary cap hit of $2.625 million. However, he indicated at the end of the season he wasn’t sure if he’d finish out his his contract and that his decision would depend on whether Scott Niedermayer would play another season. Niedermayer said Friday he intends to re-sign with the Ducks.
Selanne was also said to be encouraged by the Ducks’ acquisition of winger Joffrey Lupul, who is expected to add the secondary scoring the Ducks lacked last season.
