Top women’s water polo teams will compete in Newport Beach

The defending world champion U.S. women’s water polo team will be among six of the top 10 ranked nations to compete in the 10th Holiday Cup at Newport Beach beginning Wednesday.
Canada and Russia, which finished second and third, respectively, at the 2009 world championships, will compete, along with defending Olympic gold medalist the Netherlands, 2004 Olympic gold medalist Italy and 2000 Olympic gold medalist Australia.
Three matches per day begin on Wednesday at Corona del Mar High, with the final two days of the event on Saturday and Sunday to be webcast live through usawaterpolo.org.
