The Yankees, Tigers and Diamondbacks have agreed in principal to a complicated three-team, seven-player trade that would send Detroit outfielder Curtis Granderson to New York and former Dodger right-hander Edwin Jackson from Detroit to Arizona.

The long-discussed deal, which was reported to be at an impasse Tuesday morning, will also send highly touted right-hander Ian Kennedy from the Bronx to Arizona while the Tigers will get pitchers Max Scherzer, Daniel Schlereth and Phil Coke and outfield prospect Austin Jackson. A formal announcement of the deal has been delayed, pending physical exams.

Granderson, an All-Star last season when he hit 30 homers to go with 71 RBIs and 20 steals, probably will start in center field for the Yankees, allowing Melky Cabrera to move to left and replace Johnny Damon, who is expected to leave as a free agent.

Edwin Jackson, 26, won 27 games the last two seasons with Tampa Bay and Detroit, averaging just less than 200 innings each season.

Kennedy, 24, has been plagued by injuries but went 1-0 with a 1.89 ERA in three starts last summer while Coke was 4-3 with a 4.50 ERA in 72 games out of the New York bullpen.
