College football fans who just can’t get enough of being toyed with by high school seniors got some extra love this Valentine’s Day, as top football recruit Jadeveon Clowney finally announced the school of his choice on live television, 12 days after national signing day on Feb. 2.

The 6-foot-6, 250-pound defensive end from South Pointe High School in Rock Hill, S.C., ended the suspense by choosing a South Carolina cap from the three in front of him during an announcement at his school, which was televised by ESPN and attended by his family and dozens of reporters.

“I’m happy,” said Clowney, who had narrowed his choices down to South Carolina, Clemson and Alabama. “I wish I had done it on the second.”

Clowney said he needed the extra time just to decide among the three schools after paying a visit to each one during the past month.

He had 162 tackles and 29 1/2 sacks, caused 11 fumbles and scored five defensive touchdowns this season. Clowney also had 20 carries for 274 yards and nine touchdowns out of the backfield on offense.
