Following Joe Paterno’s inglorious dismissal as Penn State football coach, Ashton Kutcher went to Twitter to express his discontent.
Wednesday evening he tweeted: ‘How do you fire Jo Pa?’
Shortly thereafter, he deleted his update, which was retweeted by hundreds of his over 8 million followers. Kutcher claimed he thought Paterno was fired over a ‘football thing’ and didn’t realize that the coach was terminated after failing to tell the police that an assistant coach had allegedly assaulted a young boy in a school shower in 2002.
After realizing his mistake, Kutcher retweeted some of the harsh comments he was receiving and responded in an apologetic manner.
One person Tweeted: ‘Who is more ignorant? @Aplusk, or the over EIGHT MILLION idiots who follow him?’
Kutcher’s response: ‘honestly it’s me.’

Another person Tweeted: ‘with 8 million followers, you MAY want to reserve your opinions until you know the whole story.’
Kutcher tweeted: ‘agreed.’
All the comments have since been deleted. Late Wednesday night he tweeted: ‘As an advocate in the fight against child sexual exploitation, I could not be more remorseful for all involved in the Penn St. case.
‘As of immediately I will stop tweeting until I find a way to properly manage this feed. I feel awful about this error. Won’t happen again.’
