Dwight Howard could be a perfect fit for the Lakers.

The 6-foot-11, 265-pound center has a career average 18.2 points and 12.9 rebounds, and a personality meant for Hollywood. See the video below in which he pranks players from the West before the 2009 All-Star game, ordering fatty food to their hotel rooms in an attempt to slow them down before the game.

But acquiring Howard would mean dropping Bynum, a prospect that has made many in the Buss family recoil -- until now.

Wednesday evening CBSSports.com posted this: ‘A person with knowledge of the team’s strategy told CBSSports.com that executive Jim Buss finally has dropped his opposition to trading center Andrew Bynum ‘for the right deal.’ That’s code for ‘a deal for Dwight Howard.’’

That’s good news for Lakers fans. Howard told The Times in February that if he could play with anyone in the league, he’d choose Kobe Bryant.

Howard is in the final year of his contract with the Orlando Magic and will become a free agent in June.
