It’s time to set the clock, but where’s the manual?

There are two reasons why I can’t stand Daylight Saving Time: I’m a gadget lover and I have a big family.

Let me walk you through my typical Daylight Saving day. I wake up and realize that the first order of business is to change the time on all the gadgets around the house. As a gadget lover, I own a slew of devices. It’s unfortunate. Last year, I’m willing to bet that it took me about an hour (maybe two) to change the time on all those products. It was awful.

Once I complete that task, I feel accomplished. I sit down and start relaxing as I prepare for another lazy Sunday. And then the phone calls start.

Remember that big family I told you about? Yeah, well, that big family seems to forget each year how to change the time on microwaves, stoves and all the other time-telling products around the house. And unfortunately, my family knows that I’m the one person in the crew who can walk them through how to change the time on all those products.

All day my phone rings with requests from family members asking me why their microwave time isn’t changing when they press the ‘clock’ button.

It’s a nightmare.

But things are looking up. Retrevo, a company that provides product reviews and deals on gadgets, has launched a page on its website designed specifically for those who need to turn their clocks forward.

The site features product manuals for a slew of microwaves, radios, fax machines and even VCRs. Users need only to download the manuals and flip to the page describing how to change the time, and they’re all set. The site has more than 100,000 manuals available for download.

I couldn’t be happier about it. For once, I can direct all those phone calls to Retrevo’s site and save myself the aggravation of telling Aunt Jenny to hold the ‘time’ and ‘volume up’ buttons simultaneously.
