Felix Lang Jr., a 28-year-old black man, died outside of a New Year’s party on Jan. 1, 2009, in the 3900 block of Avenida del Sol in Studio City.
According to authorities, Lang was attending an illegal pay-at-the-door party at a foreclosed mansion when he reportedly failed to pay for a plate of tacos.
Gilbert McDonald, 34, the self-appointed bouncer, followed Lang outside and their confrontation turned physical. During a struggle, McDonald’s handgun went off. Moments later, police said, McDonald shot Lang several times at close range.
McDonald, who was later admitted to a local hospital with a broken femur, was booked on suspicion of murder.
