Jefferson Park: Man, 26, shot in the head

Jerell Green, a 26-year-old black man, died early Thursday, March 12, 2009, more than six hours after he was shot in the head. The shooting occurred about 6:20 p.m. Wednesday, March 11 on West Jefferson Boulevard near Arlington Avenue in Jefferson Park, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

Green was taken to a hospital in critical condition, said Los Angeles Police Officer Richard French. He died about 12:45 the next morning, authorities said. French said the gunman left the scene in a black Honda Accord that had two other occupants.

In the same incident, a person identified by police as a known gang member was shot in the body and leg. He was taken to the hospital by a private party and was initially listed in stable condition.
