Well, no surprises out at Birmingham High tonight.
RB Milton Knox rushed for 210 yards and four TDs in 26 carries to propel the top-seeded Patriots to a 50-7 victory over rival Taft in the quarterfinals of the City Section Championship Division playoffs.
Birmingham’s defense was phenomenal, holding the Toreadors to negative-23 yards total offense. Taft’s only TD came on a 74-yard kick return by Kalan Booker. Evan Jenkins had two interceptions for the Patriots.
And it case you haven’t figured it out by now, Birmingham is a lock for the City title. It’s just a matter of whether they’ll receive any love from the state bowl seeding committee once the section playoffs are over.
