Trailing, 2-0, Lutheran gets its chance to begin fourth quarter

Blake Hyepock won’t be coming back tonight. The Orange Lutheran QB has a sprained ankle. It’s Bobby Wheatley’s game.
He goes deep on the first play of a Lutheran drive, but badly underthrows receiver Chris Woods. Poly’s offense stalls against OL, though, so as we go into the fourth quarter, Lutheran -- and Wheatley -- get the ball at their own 20.
Both teams are just one big play from winning this game. There are a lot of playmakers on the field.
So far, Lutheran has been in a gambling mood.
After having won the Pac-5 title and State Division II Bowl game last season, maybe Coach Jim Kunau is thinking his team has nothing to lose.
Given that Poly’s about four times larger, enrollment-wise, and has won 16 section titles, maybe the Lancers don’t have anything to lose.
They aren’t out of this one yet.
But Poly’s one play away from from putting the game away.
