Nothing like a big win to soothe the nerves

Believe it or not, Crespi Coach Russell White seemed a little nervous before the start of the Celts’ Saturday night thriller with Loyola.

After asking Loyola Coach Jamal Adams if everyone on the team was in uniform, I went over and asked White the same question.

‘Yeah, everyone’s here,’ White said. ‘But what about them? Are they missing anyone?’

I told him no and White seemed a little bummed. Hey, who wants to go up against Hollis Thompson, Cartwright Miles and everybody else in the Cubs’ crew? Fortunately for him, Crespi overcame an on-and-off performance in the first half to beat Loyola, 66-61, to the chants of ‘Just like football!’ from the home bleachers.
