If Palisades hopes to stay alive in the City Section Invitational Division girls’ basketball playoffs against Marshall on Tuesday it’ll need a big game from Dominique Scott. Actually, another big game would be more accurate.
Scott, a 6-2 junior forward, was unstoppable in the post in the Dolphins’ 69-32 rout of Franklin on Thursday, finishing with 24 points, 22 rebounds, four steals, two blocked shots and one assist.
And don’t think those numbers are a fluke. Scott has led the team in scoring 17 times in 27 games, including 11 of her last 12. She averages 14.1 points, 13.7 rebounds and 2.6 blocks, according to maxpreps.com, and she’s fouled out only three times.
‘She’ll be an All-American,’ Palisades Coach Torino Johnson said of his emerging star.
That remains to be seen, but with Scott in the lineup the fifth-seeded Dolphins figure to be a handful for any opponent, starting with the fourth-seeded Barristers. A spot in the semifinals awaits the winner of Tuesday night’s game.
