La Habra 86s the No. 4, but it’s not enough for Huntington Beach

A couple of things stand out after checking some of the boys’ basketball scores Tuesday night in Orange County.
1) Eighty-six points is never enough.
2) You can’t live off your laurels.
As far as the first point is concerned, Huntington Beach scored 86 in its game against Rancho Cucamonga, but RC answered with 89. It was a great effort, but you know, it wasn’t enough. Sixth-seeded RC goes on, No. 7 HB goes home. That’s really tough.
As for the second point, La Habra defeated Murrieta Valley, 61-57. La Habra has eight losses on the season. Tonight, MV has three. Game over. Fourth-seeded Murrieta Valley would much rather be in No. 13 La Habra’s shoes even if the socks are a little gamey. Dominique Moreno scored 25 for the Highlanders, about 12 more than his average. Nice.
