Now that the high school softball season is over for Jessica Spigner, the Tennessee-bound third baseman can take comfort in one thing: She doesn’t have to pitch anymore. She will also be graduating from Valencia as a two-time section champion.
Assuming Saturday’s game was her final game inside the circle, what a way to go out. Spigner threw a four-hit shutout to help Valencia beat Simi Valley, 3-0, in the Southern Section-Toyota Division I championship game at Barber Park in Irvine. The senior improved her record to 29-5, not bad for someone who doesn’t want to pitch.
Here’s a quick interview with Spigner after the game.
