The Boron football team is meeting at 3:30 p.m. today to decide whether to play Friday’s game at Lake Isabella Kern Valley in the wake of the death of sophomore running back and safety Vinnie Rodriguez.
Rodriguez died Tuesday night from head injuries sustained last Friday during the Bobcats’ game against Riverside California School for the Deaf. Players initially voted to play the game against Kern Valley after Rodriguez was injured but are now reassessing the situation.
Memorial services are pending, but a spaghetti dinner fund-raiser in the school cafeteria from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday will proceed as scheduled.
