Boys’ basketball: Mater Dei advances to City of Palms semis

Mater Dei, top-ranked by The Times, improved to 7-0 with a 72-70 victory over Philadelphia Roman Catholic tonight in a quarterfinal game of the City of Palms Classic in Fort Myers, Fla.

The Monarchs will face Marietta (Ga.) Wheeler in a semifinal Monday. The other semifinal will see upstart Winter Park (Fla.), which defeated Westchester earlier today, against Elizabeth (N.J.) St. Patrick.
