As reported earlier by our very own Eric Sondheimer, Woodland Hills Taft will be without the services of Lucky Radley for tonight’s showdown against host Sherman Oaks Notre Dame. The highly-touted senior, who recently transferred from Agoura to the Toreadors, was cleared to join the team, but must first sit out four games before becoming eligible.
Radley was hoping to play, at least make an appearance for Taft, ranked No.13 in the Southland by The Times. He was hoping to be the difference-maker against the Knights, No.17 in The Times’ rankings. Instead, he’ll be watching from the sidelines.
“I want to be out there playing more than anyone, believe me’’ Radley said before the kickoff. “This afternoon, when I learned that I couldn’t play, it was the worst. I must have had 100 text messages from people asking me if I’d be in uniform.
‘People were waiting to see if I was going to play before making any bets. Just kidding. Honestly, I can’t wait to get back out on the field. Someone is going to feel me when I finally make my return. You can put that in the newspaper.’’
Radley is eligible to return on Oct. 9.
In the meantime, we’ll be blogging live from the big game tonight so expect the periodical update, a sneak peek at some of the action, over the course of the evening.
