Boys’ basketball: Anthony January scores 38 points for Taft

Woodland Hills Taft (19-3, 6-0) turned loose 6-foot-7 Anthony January on Friday in its West Valley League showdown with El Camino Real, and January scored 38 points and had 10 rebounds in a 70-58 victory.
Julian Richardson had 20 points and Maleke Haynes 17 for El Camino Real. Taft hasn’t lost a league game since 2005. Birmingham defeated Granada Hills, 49-46.
Crenshaw moved closer to the Coliseum League championship after a 76-43 win over Dorsey. Brandon Baker scored 22 points and Andre Edwards 21 points.
In the Western League, Fairfax defeated Venice, 65-48. Reggie Theus Jr., Ronny Price and Brendyn Taylor each had 11 points. Westchester defeated University, 81-33.
In the Valley Mission League, Kennedy defeated Sylmar, 67-53. Jordan Taylor scored 31 and had 11 rebounds for Kennedy (15-8, 7-1). Reseda defeated Van Nuys, 64-59, with Teddy Linn scoring 25 points.
In the East Valley League, Gor Plavchyan had 16 points and 12 rebounds in Grant’s 106-49 win over Sun Valley.
