Baseball: Birmingham makes big first impression

It was the opening week of West Valley League action, and Birmingham made a huge impression, sweeping Reseda Cleveland while showing off outstanding pitching from Daniel Rivas and Steven Rodriguez.
On Thursday night, Rodriguez threw a five-hitter in a 2-0 victory.
Chatsworth also started 2-0, sweeping Woodland Hills Taft. The latest victory, 16-4, featured a home run from Ricky Obando.
El Camino Real rallied to beat Granada Hills, 5-4, coming back from a 4-0 deficit. Nick Snyder had a two-out RBI double in the bottom of the seventh.
