Junior point guard Parker Cartwright of Los Angeles Loyola was voted one of the top guards at the NBA Players Assn. camp in Virginia.

It only reinforces Cartwright’s reputation as one of the best in California, if not the nation.

Another player gaining attention and respect was 7-foot-4 Mamadou Ndiaye from Huntington Beach Brethren Christian.

Cartwright should be back in Southern California to play for Loyola in the Fairfax tournament that begins on June 25.

Without Cartwright, Loyola has been one of the best teams at a USC team camp this past weekend. Santa Monica and Crenshaw also were reported to have performed well.
