After going 14-0 last season and being denied a CIF state championship bowl berth, the Lompoc Braves have decided to take it ‘one game at a time’ this season. The Braves are shooting for a 16-game season.
They opened on Friday with a 31-0 victory over Arroyo Grande.
Washington commit Lavon Coleman rushed for 170 yards in 17 carries and scored two touchdowns. Taylor Cornejo added 51 yards in 13 carries. The Braves had 400 yards in total offense.
Middle linebacker Willie Iribarren led the defense.
Lompoc is in the Western Division this season, which includes the Mission League. So if Gardena Serra or West Hills Chaminade want a division title, they will have to get past the Lompoc Braves at some point.
