The El Camino Real basketball program achieved another first on Saturday in winning the Fairfax summer tournament championship with a 56-43 victory over Santa Ana Mater Dei.
Julian Richardson scored 15 points and Maleke Haynes and Kelton Conway added 12 apiece. The Conquistadores’ performance this week under first-year Coach Joe Wyatt should calm any fears there might be a dropoff after David Rebibo left for an assistant job with the University of San Francisco.
In other games on the final day of the Fairfax tournament, Corona Centennial took third place with a 79-73 victory over Long Beach Poly.
Fairfax defeated Loyola, 69-68, in two overtimes. Sage Woodruff scored 24 points for the Lions. Thomas Welsh led Loyola with 15 points.
Brentwood defeated Harvard-Westlake, 48-45. Lonzo Ball scored 26 points in Chino Hills’ 77-55 win over Orange Lutheran. Compton defeated Chaminade, Santa Monica topped La Canada and Alemany defeated Crespi.
Correction: An earlier version of this blog had Crespi defeating Alemany. It was Alemany over Crespi.
