Java Palace Destroyed

JAKARTA, Indonesia — A fire ravaged one of Indonesia’s best-known Javanese palaces early today, destroying rare art treasures and leaving the 17th-Century main pavilion a charred ruin. A military spokesman said the fire swept through the palace in Solo--a major tourist attraction on Java--and lasted six hours.
