Norton Simon Son’s Home Burns
Fire destroyed the Beverly Hills home of Donald Ellis Simon, son of industrialist Norton Simon, causing an estimated $2 million in damage, fire department officials said this morning.
Simon was not home when the blaze broke out around 11:30 p.m., shooting embers onto two nearby houses where fires were quickly contained. It took 80 firefighters nearly two hours to control the fire, Dick Brooks of the Beverly Hills Fire Department said. The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
