Iraqi planes severely damaged an empty Greek tanker heading for the Iranian oil terminal on Kharg Island, Persian Gulf shipping officials said. The 131,654-ton Fairship L was reported hit as it headed toward the oil depot from the United Arab Emirates. It was the seventh confirmed maritime casualty this year as a result of air strikes in the waterway.
