Smail Leads Winnipeg Win Over Washington

WINNIPEG, Manitoba — Doug Smail’s second goal of the game early in the third period broke a 2-2 tie Wednesday night and sparked the Winnipeg Jets to a 5-3 come-from-behind National Hockey league victory over the Washington Capitals.
Smail’s first goal at 6:39 of the second period triggered Winnipeg’s comeback from a 2-0 first-period deficit as the Jets moved one point ahead of the Calgary Flames into second place in the Smythe Division.
