Escondido
Forest Fouts, who has been superintendent of the 5,500-student Escondido High School District for seven years, has announced that he will retire Aug. 31. Fouts, 62 and an educator for 38 years, came to Escondido after serving as superintendent of the South Pasadena Unified School District. School board president Bruce Studebaker said: “He’s been wanting to retire for the past three years and we’ve been able to talk him into staying. We’ll hate to finally see him go, but he says it’s time for him to play with his grandchild.”
